Taylorcocks’ New Website
Taylorcocks is a top 100 firm of chartered accountants and provides a range of accountancy, tax and business advisory services to clients across the UK.
Taylorcocks needed a web design agency with experience in developing websites for accountants, so they approached Digital Four Group with the challenge of replacing their existing dated site with a new, responsive one.
The objectives for the project were to produce a website that:
- Consistently portrays Taylorcocks’ brand, message & values to the target market
- Answers basic questions about their services without giving away free advice
- Is fully responsive and enables a smooth user experience on mobile and tablet devices
- Is easily navigable and logically presents linked & related content
- Is SEO and lead generation-friendly
- Is fast, well-structured and scalable
It was also important to Taylorcocks that the amount of content on the site was reduced significantly as, as their existing website contained a large number of pages that either weren’t frequently visited or were simply out of date.
Defining the brief
We worked closely with Taylorcocks to learn more about their brand message, target market, services and unique selling points (USPs). Their design and functionality requirements were then defined and this information enabled us to produce a detailed brief to work against.
Conceptualising the design
The biggest challenge for our web designers was blending Taylorcocks’ traditional, aesthetically-pleasing branding elements with a modern, clean interface. After working through several options, we presented Taylorcocks with a proposed concept, which was met with enormous positivity.
Building the wire frame
Once the design concept was signed-off, we started building the core wire frame of the website, including:
- Menu structure
- Home page
- Service pages
- Careers pages
- Bespoke pages
- Contact pages
Refreshing the content
The shear volume of content on the previous website presented a challenge for our content marketing experts, as there was a lot of potentially useful and interesting content hidden deep within the site and buried under largely unnecessary pages.
We carried out a review of all the website content and used the agreed menu structure to:
- Re-write out-dated content
- Present long pages of text in a more aesthetically-pleasing way
- Exclude unnecessary content from the new site
- Add new pages to present the wider service offering
We also converted pages with high-quality content, but no immediate value or relevance, into downloadable guides that can be accessed on their Business Guides section.
As Taylorcocks is a top 100 firm and has a strong reputation within the sector, their website plays a key role in attracting new prospective clients and converting traffic into enquiries. The new website was designed and developed with SEO at the front of our minds, so we implemented all of the necessary on-page SEO elements and optimised all of the content on the website for their primary and secondary keywords.
We also redirected a large number of URLs to new pages on the site to ensured that they didn’t lose out on traffic or “link juice”.
Once the first draft of the website was ready to be reviewed, we tested the website internally to ensure that we were happy with it. We then presented it to the Partners and several key employees within Taylorcocks’ Central team and managed a structured feedback process.
The feedback was better than we could have hoped for and the outcome was a focused list of changes to implement on the site before being releasing it to a wider group to review and test the site.
A number of rounds of feedback and changes were implemented smoothly, which meant that we were ready to start rolling the website out to the public.
Taylorcocks were extremely happily with the new website, which went live in April, and are actively promoting their wider service offering, with a focus on cloud accounting and advisory services.
